Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for an Olympic contest. Bela Karalyi was introduced to Comaneci at age six. Later, she would be Romania's gymnastics coach. Comaneci was the first to compete for time in the national junior championships and finished 13th. Following that, she became champion. In 1972, in the communist nations' meet for junior athletes prior to the Olympics, she was awarded three medals of gold. Then in 1973 and 1974, she became the overall junior champion. The athlete won four golds and one silver medals in her debut competition as a senior which took place in the year 1975. This was the first time she competed as an adult. The year was 1976 when she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also became the first woman in history to dismount the parallel bars with the double backward salto. The story of Carol Wayne into the realm of entertainment began in her teens. With her sister Nina Wayne, she joined traveling entertainment shows known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol entered the entertainment industry in her teens. The path she took to success began when she joined her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. The show featured dramatic ice skating shows.
