Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering company called Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a nearby college. In order to continue in the footsteps of her father she graduated in chemical engineering. However, because she wanted to follow her dream of becoming an actress, she moved into New York to try her chance in the movie industry. In her Broadway performances were followed by work in a local eatery. She had a cameo role in the series "Felicity." (It is in this series where she first met her husband Scott Foley.) Garner got her breakthrough by the action-thriller "Alias." The actress's first lead role was in the acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on 30." Garner played a teenage girl trapped in a 30 year old body. Garner chose Gary Winick for the role as director. They continued to work in other films up when Winick's death in the year 2011. Garner was appointed ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. This role involves the promotion of nutrition and literacy in the United States and early schooling. Garner is a board member as a member of the board since 2014, serves as an advocate of early learning. As an ambassador, she regularly interacts with families that are involved in the organization's Early Steps to School Success program that guides parents on ways to support youngsters learn.
